If the tape was made on 5/8/77, then it was definitely before Elvis passed away. Elvis Presley died on 16/8/77. He was 42 years old.

After just watching Bargearse for the 52nd time I found this video. Wasn't that Bluey title music used for the 6pm news as well? Classic stuff and great that it was preserved.

@stetaxi3 No he just went home LOL

I used to love watching bluey,I remenber seeing one episode where one of his informers nods to bluey to go into the toilets,When they get there the informer says,Words out blue,Your on a diet,Then does a runner.

@mockviewer It was written to be a piece of source music. I'm sure when Brian Bennett wrote little did he know it would become an iconic piece

I remember Bluey well, used to be on ITV about 11.30pm in the early 80s - the intro was like a Beastie Boys video. Used to cry with laughter if he had to chase anyone, I remember he took one young fella down by rolling a dustbin lid down a hill after he ran out of breath (took about 3 seconds).
Up there with Gene Hunt for social skills.
Oh my god, that Bluey show had to be a parody! Just seeing him "kicking" that guy down and "smashing" the other guy's head on the car is hilarious. If that ain't a parody, then some Australian comedy show must have made a parody of this!

Correct. An Australian comedy show (D-Generation) sourced several 1976 Bluey TV episodes, removed the original sound track and added voice overs. Search YouTube for "bargearse". You have to be Australian to appreciate this stuff.

These Sony U-matic video low-band tapes still produce high quality video after some 30 years. U-matic tapes are also superior to open-reel format because the tape is enclosed within the plastic housing during playback. U-matic VTR machines also disengage the tape from the head drum during fast forward and rewind. This further contributes to playback quality.

I recall that Elvis' death was huge in terms of media exposure. Elvis was also more popular in 1977 relative to today. A lot of his original fans have passed on since 1977. I suspect this Elvis TV documentary was originally produced in 1972. The 1977 Elvis On Tour documentary wasn't broadcast on TV till October 1977.

I wonder if this Elvis program was broadcast before or after he died.

Probably just before. The tape is marked as 5th August 1977.
