  • You people disgust me, attacking everyones freedom to choose.

One thing is for sure, that plant will be built, you local trouble makers will not be forgotten.

There will be price you pay for the troubles you have caused through your local council rates, we know who you are!

  • Muppet. (Had to have one come along sooner or later I guess).

  • Desalination is an ecological and financial disaster. We are fighting it here in Southern California. Kudos to Bob Brown for fighting it down under.

  • Thank you for your support. I've seen a desal plant in Southern CA for myself. Southern CA is a very dry environment but desal has done nothing to address people's consumption patterns. We are afraid that this will happen here in Oz also.

  • Senator Bob and all of you are simple rube assholes.

Only a jerk would stop a Dealination plant.

Your alternative is LAUGHABLE at best and murderous of yet to be born Aussies.

Why? Becuase you stupid primitives would rely upon the fickleness of Global Climate change.

Rain? Desalination Plants can provide water to even the interior of your backwards ass country. Your crops need never be subject to drought.

    Rain? hahhahahahahahaha

  • I published your comment to demonstrate why we need change here in Australia.

Sadly, most Americans (certainly not all) are energy guzzling, wasteful cretins like you.

The US economy is down the dunny precisely due to greedy, wasteful, short sighted thinking like yours.

We look at the USA mainly to see why we DON'T want the same environmental and economic mess here.

  • Thankyou for posting this awesome video!

Desal is a stupid, un-needed option taken on by lazy polititians who don't care about a community who will not vote for them no matter what they do.

Desal sucks! Melbourne, put it in your own backyard!

  • The first ever Privatisation desalination plant in the world not to be in an industrial Zone.

  • When you vote this weekend, don't give another party license to steal your vote. Vote for the party you want to vote for, and that party only. Do not add a second preference to your vote.

  • A desalination plant build on top of Wetlands and next to a River ?

    let it Rain hahhahahahahahaha

  • If the people at the coast don't want it in their "back yard" (and why should they, there's enough water in those areas) then why not just lay an inconspicuous pipe to where the water is needed and desalinate it there? (or somewhere that isn't a picturesque national park)

Maybe a bit more expensive, but if an area is dry enough they'd go for it.

I don't think relying more heavily on rain and river water is a great idea, especially in an already dry ecosystem.

  • I think that coastline is coast line. Theres coastline everywhere, i think that there are risks and water prices will rise and all that stuff (im not trying to say that they are not important) but i think that it has to be done now. The only thing that i think i don't know about is what it puts into the ocean. Isn't it just salt? Im thinking of it as a big water purifier. comment me please i would like to discuss is as im talking about in school.

  • Maybe im ill educated on the issue but i know that we need water.

Im sure you know that Victoria is in a massive drought and to me i think that we have no other choice. Climate change is only going to make it harder to get water and less rain. Also i heard the man talking about its energy use. I read that its energy use is renewable?? thats what i read anyway.
