Deviating from the skies, I thought it would be interesting to post a video demonstrating the strong enthusiasm given off by Montreal hockey fans in our area after the Canadiens (or Habs) claimed victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 tonight (May 12th, 2010) with a final score of 5-2. Car horns are blowing more than anything else while cheers and screams of delight can be heard echoing off in the distance.

Pleasant evening weather made it quite ideal for people to celebrate vehemently, though I suspect fans would have done the very same regardless of weather conditions. This part of the Boulevard is normally pretty quiet during the evening, but it rapidly became like an expressway when the Canadiens secured victory. You can only imagine what it was like at downtown near and in the Bell Center.

This video was taken in Southwestern Pierrefonds, which is located in the West Island of Montreal.

  • I've never heard of something like this going on at all. I never at all heard anyone in the USA pulling this off whatsoever, not even on the news. I guess this is some sort of Canadian celebration tradition when a hockey team wins.

That is quite a riot and becomes more populated at the end of the video for a brief time, I notice.

  • Hi Xcat,

Normally, fans of any Canadian team would show strong enthusiasm, but the fans of Montreal's team demonstrate the greatest, I think. I'm not a huge hockey fan, but I do like when our team is victorious as well as watching the ways in which people correspondingly celebrate and commemorate the victories, especially for the current NHL playoffs.
