@freddyforever75 his symptoms by '87 were full-blown, so was positive ~10 yrs. that means among earliest wave of the epidemic. it's easy to say should do this/that in hindsight. back then it was urban legend, zero public awareness (look at nonexistent health policy), heavy stigma of GRID. some1 i think mary said he was in denial - it's antithetical to how he conditioned his mind: succeed on work & living to extremes. psychology of being terminal is tricky. now we get better care & counseling.

@alfislo well i guess we can all hear different things and we cant know the truth, but if what you say is true then i think its not good he didnt tell jim that he was hiv positive

@freddyforever75: I heard he found out (but did not tell anyone) in 1985. That's why he escaped from Munich so suddenly.
