@JourneyTraveler if awdry had continued writing longer his plans for oliver and others on the little western would have featured in more books aswell as bear and the main line engines. but christopher took over and didnt continue the characters except for the mention of their names once or twice. awdry actually had alot of plans. example as many said the sexism about female coaches male engines he was going to introduce a female small railway engine along with 2 deisels named blister1 ,blister2

The two diesels with the yellow faces are Spamcan (0:51) and Bear (0:56), both exclusively from the Railway Series books.
Both diesels came to the railway in the book "Enterprising Engines", on a trial run. Spamcan (#199) proved to be really disrespectful to the steam engines, but Bear (#7101) acted humble. In the end, Bear was excepted into the railway, but Spamcan was sent packing.
I always thought it a shame that these two were never televisied, and that Bear is extremely hard to find
