Actually -- John B. Gordon surrendered the ANV to Joshua L. Chamberlain (two American heroes).
Grant & Lee agreed to/signed the terms of surrender.
Chamberlain saluted the surrendering Confederates.
The North had 3X the men and 10X the means of the South. Why did it take 4 years (208 count 'um weeks) for the North to "win" their war of attrition!
Were there giants in grey -- or were there a bunch of little whiney "patty cake playing" bunglers in blue!

may i note that this is not the First COnfederate flag and did not fly over 100 years of slavery as the USA flag did
and the COnfederate COnstitution abolished Slavery Before the Civil war..Not all the Wavers of this flag may belive in it like i do but those are the facts..
