I'd take the slowest Mercedes over the fastest P.O.S. Chevropontiuick any day of the week. In 15 years, when your Pontiac is rusted out on blocks in front of a double-wide in Georgia, that SL will still be a pristine classic.

ubicomp, you are obviously very intelligent! Some people take pride in their cars and take care of them, like me. When others have money, like my friend, and buy cars just to have fun in at the time, then get rid of when they are tired of them. And I would hardly call the SL 500 a classic.

I'm not kidding anyone. My buddy who owns it is 23 and he was trying (its just slower than the WS6). We have raced a few times from a dig and from a roll same outcome everytime.

I love how people don't think the WS6 is fast. Simple logic, put a 350 V8 in a small ass car.. it's going to haul ass.

@egalamay25 you could pick up an e55 AMG for under 30k theese days... you'd probably spend that much in upkeep over a 4 year period tho lol... but spend 2-3k on smaller supercharger pulley some bolt ons and a tune and that e55 will be raping vipers and zo6s on the highway........

@jsloden I have a 97 Ws6 with 150k on it never has it leaked, smoked, broken down and its a daily driver,oh and im 20 so the was driven by a young kid and it never has shown signs of wear and a T/A is rated at 305 hp,mine is none modded so i guess im the needle and was just appraised at 12k for a 15yr old car that sl in 15 years will be worh 4k

@pepn3385 Yeah, but he was at the same time watchin tv and gettin his ass massaged. Thats what the sl500 is about. If he wants to race with an sl, should have bought 55amg or 600.

@ jsloden you are wrong there sir, or you must be talking about the LT1 trans am.. The LS1 motors are damn near bullet proof.. If anything an auto tranny might need a rebuild by then.. That Benz is way more of a money pit on repairs.. And just like any other car the more it's abused the more probs will arise.. If LS motors were crap GM wouldn't be dropping them in so many new cars and trucks..
