What a horrible trailer. I can't believe the movie is this bad. I'm gonna watch it and it better be better than this god awful I mean jesus what the fuck the announcer doesn't even sound like he gives a shit

He didn't get an Oscar nomination because the film played in theaters less than a week before being pulled after Canby's review. No one at the Academy ever knew about the film, it wasn't even on their radar. And after the re-release with the new title, it was too late. So it basically just slipped through the cracks and became kind of a "cult" film, seen by very few, probably still being discovered today.

Why John Heard didn't get an oscar nomination for this performance, i'll never know! A highly underrated actor who was memorable with his roles in After Hours, Big, Decieved & Betrayed. He never got to play anyone quite as impactful as Cutter though. Whatever happened to Lisa Eichorn? A stunning performance in this but her career never really took off(Moon 44 anyone?). They don't quite make em like Cutter's Way anymore.
