A turbine engine is designed to deliver thrust to propel an aircraft forward by means of an exhaust nozzle but can also drive other mechanics via a second stage turbine attached to the rear of the engine which has a gear box connected to it allowing it to turn an additional shaft to drive another source,look at it this way the second stage has no compressor attached just a gear box for shaft hp.I hope that this helps you with your questions.

@atourdeforce Yes, there is a power turbine located after the combustion section. The power turbine spins free of the compressor and is connected to a high speed shaft, transferring the power to the main gearbox. Turbofan and turboprop engines function in a similar manner.

can any1 explain to me how the power is transfered from the turbine to the props?? i mean turbines uses thrust, is there some sort of cowling and impeller in the loer prop shaft which spins from the thrust of the turbine, thats my only guess. some1 please this has racked my brains for years????????????

first time i see a turbine heli flown by a pilot who hasn't panic to crash the expensive turbine. great flying !!! and thx for the risk ^^
