This past summer Missouri University of Science and Technology's chapter of Engineers Without Borders traveled to two destinations in Bolivia to apply their engineering skills to local problems. The first destination was a small boarding school in the Amazon. There the problem consisted of finding a clean source of water. The second location was in Inca Katurapi, a small village in the Andes where there had never been latrines. UMR students and faculty developed composting latrines for the community in an attempt to help reduce the infant mortality rate. What follows is the story of that adventure.

  • Thank you Tom S. for doing so much for my beautiful country.

Bolivia is a really poor country, but It is also a friendly place with friendly people I mean, and I think you could see that.

    Thank you very much again.

    Sincerely, Leslie B.

P.S. Muchas Gracias por todo lo que hiciste!!

  • Leslie,

I'm glad you like the video. I left a piece of my heart in La Paz and hope to go back soon. Bolivia may be the most beautiful place in all of the Americas and her people are my kind of people.

    Tom

  • I Think bolivia is way better than peru. And I say that sincerely, In peru all it is is advertisement, in bolivia it's real, people are who they are. And beside peruvians tend to steal alot, especially alot of other cultures like Bolivias. Don't belive the dances you see in peru, the most awesome ones would be Bolivian and that is fact. It is so sad to say but it is the truth. i have lost all faith in peru , there !!que viva Bolivia!!!
