It's interesting to discover a day in the life of a quarter. Especially one that accidentally turns yellow. This goes out to markritts who made this video. He can be seen as the guy who drops his quarter and those two boys who pick up the quarter are his two sons.

  • For me, this segment ranks right up there with the Crayola factory. I don't remember there being narration or jazzy music.

  • I always loved this one! Thanks for sharing.

  • I wonder who did the voice? I love how it sounded when the quarter was in the piggy bank!

  • At 1:49, instead of that woman, I thought it would have been nice if it was that same guy from the beginning of the skit who accidentally dropped his quarter on the ground to be the one coming to the bank to request cash from his account. I just think this because, I can feel bad for him that he dropped his quarter in case he was going to use it for something (like put it in a meter like that other guy did at 1:10) or that way, he could get his own quarter back that he dropped accidentally.

  • AH!!!!! I remember this clip all too well! It left an impression on my young mind back in the 80s, lol.

  • I made this film in the 1980s (I'm the guy who drops the coin in the first shot, and the boys are my sons). Thank you for posting it! Even I don't have a copy on video; only an old 16mm reel buried somewhere in the attic. I hadn't seen it for many years.

  • I couldn't understand but, what did the quarter say from 2:06-2:08 when the little girl put the quarter in the piggy bank? Was it, "store me away for a while" or "put me away for a while?"

  • I remember seeing this skit a long time ago but, I never knew that, that quarter would've been accepted in stores and the bank with paint on it. Probably if I saw that quarter with paint all over it, I wouldn't of known that it was a quarter since it's all covered with yellow paint and doesn't look silver at all. I probably would've thought that, that quarter was trash on the ground or, I would've thought that it was a piece of concrete blended in with the other concrete.

  • That's a very good point. I have used quarters to pay for things which were dirty with dirt all over them since they were probably quarters I found on the ground outside and employees in stores have accepted quarters with dirt on them but, I didn't know that people would accept quarters with paint on them.

  • This clip is the earliest memory i have of watching TV. it has to have been more than 20 years since I saw this.
