@SuperGuitarman69 Those poor, put-upon corporations, being hit with all those vaguely-defined frivolous lawsuits we read about in our inboxes almost daily. And their only crime is making unsafe products. Where's the justice anymore? =(

Thank-you HBO for this documentary....before then I bought into the propaganda and thought Liebecks Hot Coffee lawsuit was frivolous after seeing this documentary which showed the pictures of her third degree burns. I will rethink voting for any judge or politician pushing for limiting people rights to be fully compensated for the damage they have sustained.

There is a good one on a south american (i think) country trying to sue texaco (who is now exxon mobile (or vise versa)) for polluting their country and poisoning the people of a near by village. i think its called "crude" but do some google searching its worth it.

The media only tells you that Leibeck was awarded millions for punitive damages, but in reality, the case was settled for an undisclosed amount, which is rumored to be less than $600K.

You should see the documentary and not argue about fault, it is about limiting civil liberties by corporate interests under the guise that it's regular people are abusing the legal system when like everyone knows it is companies that don't want to be held accountable.

Such an important film, that made me extremely angry as to how big business manipulates our justice system. I too thought that the coffee suit was a frivolous one until seeing this film for myself. Tort reform does not help anyone except for big corporations..EVERYONE should take the time to watch this film. It's an eye opener!

Have you seen the whiny, defensive copy at the site where that book which mocks Stella, The Stella Awards dot com, is sold?

They offer every excuse they can think of for why lying about what happened is acceptable in the greater cause of defending corporation-people against lawsuits brought by mere flesh-people.

My favorite is that 700 people crippled by boiling-hot coffee is nothing, when you consider how many cups McDs sells. Just shrinkage, y'know?
