I am a poet/writer. I fell in love with words and writing at an early age. However, my passion for poetry writing began in my early twenties. Some poets were more instrumental in this, what I call 'fatal' attraction, than others, particularly John Ashbery, William Blake, and Philip Larkin. Later I found Baudelaire and Rilke to add to my holy pantheon. I self published my first two collections of poetry in my early twenties (Only a few copies for myself and my closest friends and relatives). They were both an attempt at emulating those great, what I call, Prophets of Man's Psyche. I must admit that my early poems were somewhat half-baked, only a way to find my way. I also fell attracted to the poetry of Sylvia Plath and Elizabeth Bishop for the intensity and intimacy of their works. I came to Canada where I now live. I began exploring new voices, many from the non-English realm, such as Spain, Latin America, France, Germany, Eastern Europe, and Asia, to new but a few. I also immersed myself in Eastern and Western philosophies. I wrote my next collection of poems in my late twenties (Only to be published years later) Primarily, I was mainly interested in exploring new styles and writing. However, after much cajoling by my then partner, I finally decided to have it published under the title 'Convergences and Divergences'. Before the publication of this collection, I had had a few of my poems published here and there in anthologies, chapbooks and some local papers. I am what you might call a poet with a 'hermetic' streak, although I think it would be nice to reach a wider audience since "poetry", as James Carl Sandburg says, is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." I am currently working on a new collection of poems, which I consider a departure from my last one, a new 'experiment and experience.' It is titled 'Poems without a Country'. I am also working on a novel which I started over a year ago.
In addition, I am a first time slang lexicographer (See the other clip SlangSphere for more details)
