Environment Canada confirms reports of a funnel cloud in east-end Montreal on Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses sent several pictures into CTV News that show a cloud over the St. Lawrence River.
Media reports say the cloud produced a waterspout, a phenomenon where the high, swirling winds suck water hundreds of feet into the air.
Storm alert
Environment Canada issued a storrm alert for 1:23 p.m. for Montreal and Laval.
They said there was a possibility of winds of at least 90 km/h and hail up to 2 cm in diameter.

  • a waterspout IS A TORNADO!! its just that it forms over a body of water instead of land. If the same cloud would have been over land and the funnel developed, it would have been a weak tornado.

  • You're a dumbass, Pause at 12 sec. It's written "WATER SPOUT". Not "Funnel Cloud".

  • Alot of people are ignorant when it comes to Tornadoes! Just thought the news would atleast know the facts but I guess not.

  • It is a tornado!

It is a tornado that goes over water.

  • the amazing thing about this waterspout, is how it traveled upstream (they usually travel downstream) and it formed on a river (they again usually form on a body of water with very little to none movement-lake ocean)

  • you post cool videos i feel like subing

  • the day before that, there was a huge hail storm.. size of golf balls

  • stop saying MINI tornadoes you fuck faces

  • I know, oh well.. i didnt know tornados could happen around here!!
