Very interesting questions and I hope you guys don't mind me adding my thoughts. I believe that there is no straitjacket currently being produced that is escape proof. I use a Posey in my show, it has front and side loops, friction buckles and a crotch strap. Its hard. But possible. I've done a double SJ before too. Full Posey straitjacket plus transport jacket on top. Large or small build matters not, if the SJ fits correctly its seriously hard!

Hey Alan!
Great escape dude!!!
I too took part in the EA Relay back in 2007. I performed 3 escapes in 3 different locations, one of them can be seen on my channel. I've, hopefully attached it here too as a video response.
Its a slightly different take on the straitjacket escape. With this one I used a sleeveless transport jacket, under which I had a transport belt around my waist and handcuffs attached to that. I performed it in Dudley Town Center, West Midlands, UK.

@RoslynWalker Thanks Roslyn... your escape sounds great... several degrees of difficulty above mine (actually I'm mentalist - the Houdini tribute stuff has a link to the Houdini seance recreations I do).
Have you seen the guy who hold the record for getting into a straight-jacket and chains? That's pretty cool stuff.
Just to clarify on a couple of the comments I've re-read.... there was/is a crotch strap and for those who really want to know I learned some of my escape stuff off David deVal

This also didn't have a waist loops to stop you bringing your arms above your head, nor did it seem to have a crouch strap to stop you from taking it off.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. You're right no loops but there is a crotch strap. For those who really want to know it's a jacket made by the late great) David de Val.
Interested to know as in with previous posts, whether comments are based upon direct experience of wearing one of these things or desk-top/couch observations.
The other aspect of this is the final presentation... 50 feet in the air upside down over spikes or 6 feet above the ground over cushions (rehearsal) LOL Alan

I am curious, in your opinion, is it physically possible for a human being to escape from a FULL jacket? Like a full medical jacket with the crotch strap, loops and friction buckles (so i've heard them called) in the back. Or even if your arms are tied behind your back, is that physically escapable?

Hello again...
The short answer to your question is yes. Remember straight jackets are designed to restrain people who may not be calm and may not be thinking clearly. An escape artist needs to remain calm and think clearly...
Thanks for your continued interest.
