Also check Out www.stuffthatsgone.com email me at qman49@juno.com if local to SW pennsylvania and wish to get involved as we proceed.
I am looking for your feedback on any local interest in developing a 2 mile stretch of the Manor Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad, Manor to Harrision City PA, into a Rails to Trails bike and walk trail. this is part two looking at the trail walking from Manor to Harrison city PA. It is an easy conversion, but would require grant money, interest from the Penn Twp Commissioners, and the owner of the other end's right of way to cooperate and give up the land for this use. Post any thoughts or if you want me to email you give me the infomation to do so.--enjoy!

  • i agree with the idea of leaving the track in place and restoring it. itll make more money for the community and itll be more fun and something for kids to learn about history as well as having fun on a train ride. not to mention the abbilitys of bringing visitors into town. and if you price the tickets fairly you wil get much passengers looking to return many times. with a bick trail you cant get much more money then from those who come off tthe trail and shop. you can put a bike

  • @mrnickelplate it's a dead project due to one resident who is a title lawyer and he will block any attempt to improve the community recreation choices!

  • what was railroad used for? cool video

  • @davemoore52266 it was a spur line that fed the Claridge and Denmark coal maines, and tied into the Pennsylvania Railroad main line. No longer needed by the 1920s

  • That is a great idea. I live in Harrison City and I think it would be a great thing to have here.

  • I may tap into you for help--I just heard from Westmoreland Parks so I am going to speak with them so we can get this off the ground. It comes down to the Manor section owner turning over the ownership. He has no phone and is never home.

  • hmmmm... i think not, i think that the common wealth of pennsyvania CAN turn that into a little tourist railroad, i don't know what it would be called, but, it's very well plausable! please tell me what you think

  • @mrnickelplate continuuing- anywhere you cant put a traiin anywhere you need to put it on tracks. tracks that you have. giive it a thought

    thank you for your time

  • @theqman1956 Thanks for the information. I have always liked the out of the way places. These videos make you wonder about how things were.

  • someone should clean it up and put a steam engine on it

  • ... man, y'ins("y'ins": My late Moms' Pittsburghese for "you folks" or "y'all")ennyways, y'ins got something great goin' on down there in Pennzy! I understand this is an ongoing huge effort, the "Rails to Trails" enterprise; As these trails are spread everywhere in northern Pensylvania- where once were mine ROW & intra community ROW(right of way) - there are now dozens of trails w/ bridges repaired and made hiker-worthy and(as once was my bag)biker-ready!

Paths! As in the old'n Indian days...

  • This was an excellent video my friend.
