This is a demonstration how to install the excellent VLC media player using the add/remove programs option. The same install procedure applies to other programs within the repository. Please see the following site for further information about repositories https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang

    figured out everything

when i got 10.04 and installed it on a USB

i had to do something in the settings in order to install and remove etc

btw there still isnt at and remove i

the add and remove is in the ubuntu software center

  • @CRAKIZGOOD

oh shit...wtf? yo u did just the recommended right? not those experimental what ever updates. That shouldn't have happened. O.o

  • @CRAKIZGOOD

when software center, synaptic, or media codecs or any code in terminal fails to download something it may mean your out of date buddy... this was an infuriating thing for me when i was a new user i thuaght my ubuntu install was broken out of box lol... just open terminal, and type sudo apt-get update (insert password when told to)... then reopen packadge manager/software center and try to install again and it should be sucesfull. :P

  • ok i know the problem now

a person told me to update my ubutu i fout about 160 updates but after the update it refuses to boot from my flash :(

  • Thats strange as I've just installed VLC from the software centre so it is there, I'm not sure why its not shown on your pc.

  • can u help me instead of add and remove i got ubuntu software center

i found vlc but it says Not available in the current data

  • thanx a millie. Ubuntu is cool but can be a bit tedious or it takes quiet some geeting used to.
