Trying Natto for the first time... [Reaction Video] (Student Exchange/Homestay in Japan 2011)

Natto...I had always said that I would never try it...yet, less than 24 hours into my homestay experience in Japan, I had done so. :O :/ Australia's secret weapon, Vegemite (no really, we don't have much of an army), had failed me. It failed me on the front line in my bet with the dinner table that if everyone could try Vegemite, I would try Natto. I never have been very lucky with betting...but I honestly thought the odds were in my favour this time...because, well, who in their right mind would eat a dark paste made from concentrated yeast extract that has been brought to the house by a stranger from another country? ;) Haha..just kidding...any Australian who takes Vegemite abroad with them is trustworthy ;) And I do recommend you eat it every morning on toast with butter :)

What I learned from this experience: Vegemite is Australia's Natto...and anyone who eats Natto is capable of eating Vegemite...and possibly anything else...because they must have a stomach of steel, and very obedient tastebuds. :|

I just tried natto today... I took a whole container full XD Almost lost it twice but thats it.. needed a whole pack of breathmints before i could keep talking to the girl that gave me the natto to try XD. I probably wont eat it again around her but she and her grandparents know that I have a stomach of steel and a tamed gag reflex XD

This reminds me of the first time I tired natto. Now I gag just looking at it. I'm going to Kansai Gaidai for a year abord, starting this summer. You're video's are much more informative then any information I've been given by my own university thus far. So thank you :D
