A fuel line busted just before takeoff on this osprey. They fixed it, but not before a ton of fuel got dumped all over the engine. When they started up the excess fuel caught fire and smoked quite a bit. Perfectly safe, I've been told that this happens often. Not too good huh? Kinda of scary if you don't know whats going on.

  • My car smokes up alot like that when I let it sit for a while.

It runs just fine after it heats up. I just think maybe the seals contract when the engins cool down after a flight. A little leak isn't a problem. Hell my Harley leaks more than those birds do. It's a good piece of engineering.

A few kinks at first, but they smoothed out the flaws.

As for autorotation during engine failure, if one goes out then power is geared from the other.

Autorotate by simply disengaging the trans-interlock.

  • Harleys don't leak....they mark their spot haha

  • Where's the fire?

  • WHAT IS THE PRORAY? UTUBE SEARCH...PRORAY!

  • @MarcLaPrairie You have no brains, because you don't see what's inside your skull???

  • Wow, yet another youtube video by someone who has no idea what they're talking about. They smoke on start due to oil leaking from the seals in the engine that operates both vertically and horizontally.

  • These things smoke even when brand new. It's just how it is. Nothing out of the ordinary here. No fire, no excess fuel... nothing but a normal start. This is why the guys walking around the aircraft don't even take notice. There is no reason to.
