So beautiful, and so appropriate for how I'm feeling right now. Thank you.

What an amazing voice and talent, taken much too soon. As usual, Mankind loses out again to some higher calling that forever lays unknown. If some gently souls can be re-incarnated to try again, please send this one back to us.

@phcoh The song with these lyrics can't be traced back further than 100 years. Though you are right it is still old. The lyirc starting Water Is Wide was originally an English version of an older Scottish song called Waly Waly which is supposedly over 200 years old though the words are completely different. That itself was based on the Scottish Ballad called Lord Jamie Douglas which deals with events from the 1680s though that doesn't prove it was around then. Could have been. Not this song tho!

The people that refuse to give up will most often find the fact that the water is to wide to cross over is only a delusion.The human spirt has been known to be virtually unsinkable at times.Take care ADonovan43.

Hard to believe a song from way back in the 1600's could still be relevant, either way, with her talent I would listen to her singing the instructions to an ICEA flat pack

Please listen to june tabor singing this song - I am not saying it is better but it is just wonderful

@shakensel ....
Margo...When I wrote my comment on this song & performance by Eva, I could not help but think of your Beautiful Sharon & Selina sitting on a cloud by Eva's feet as she played her guitar and sang this song just for the littlest & youngest Angels that she has now become their Angel Mother until your arrival to be with them once again.....You are always in our thoughts much more then you could possibly know as you can see by my thoughts...

To whom it may concern:
This song is not Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, Breton or... from any other Celtic origin!
It's English (perhaps surprisingly, given the style) And the English ought to take pride in their history of writing their own notable folk songs.
(I'm Celtic too, so my saying that is fair and balanced :P)
