Re: New Pornographers Challenge #2

I am a fellow who, it could be said, takes himself too seriously. Call it shyness, call it sophomoric artistic pretension... whatever.

Basically, I'm coming off a rotten day where this unfortunate trait of mine got the better of me. I lost my temper in public and embarrassed myself something fierce. Here, then, is my therapy, as ridiculous as it may seem - throwing myself head over heels into something completely, irredeemably silly.

Hence, a butchering of the New Pornographers' "Sing Me Spanish Techno" in response to their latest video challenge. I promised myself I'd only do one take of this, and so here is Take #1 - missed notes, arrhythmic moments, wonky camera focus and all.

Is it going to win this contest? Does it even sound at all like Michael McDonald? Hell no, thank you kindly! But by doing this I managed to drop all of my cagey reserve and just have an absurd time. That, friends, is an accomplishment of sorts.

I hope to be like that guy at the dance party who starts spasming on the floor before anyone else has built up the nerve. Then, seeing this joker's horrible dance steps, the pros come out to show him how its done. So, expert McDonald impersonators - go and do your thing.
