Joy in the Temple

I was invited to the village temple of Singapadu to attend the presentation of new music and dances conceived and choreographed by the artist I Nyoman Cerita. Cerita was born in Singapadu and he also has his family house there. Cerita is a master of traditional Balinese music and dance. He is a very prestigious artist in Bali. His music and dances are performed regularly both in tourist stages and in temples during religious ceremonies. His musical creations and choreographies are well known and highly apreciated. Cerita works regularly for the prestigious group from "sanggar" Çudamani (located in Pengosekan). Cerita's creations have been shown often in countries like Canada, USA or Japan and Europe too. The night of the performance I was so lucky. The temple was full of villagers enjoying new Cerita's dances and music. Happy people around. Fun and joy at the village temple. It was a sort of magic night. The show was entirely performed by local folk. Gamelan musicians, dancers, set builders, lightning technicians, every body was from Singapadu. Van invitar-me a l'estrena de noves danses i coreografies creades per l'artista balinès I Nyoman Cerita. La presentació va fer-se al temple central de Singapadu. Singapadu és un vilatge a uns vuit quilòmetres al sud d'Ubud. És un poble d'artistes. Ha donat i segueix donant a Bali creadors de molt talent. Un dels més reputats és I Nyoman Cerita. Cerita és un compositor i coreògraf afamat. Les seves creacions es representen regularment tant en escenaris per a turistes com en les cerimònies religioses dels temples balinesos. Nyoman Cerita treballa habitualment amb el prestigiós grup del "sanggar" Çudamani, de Pengosekan. L'obra de Cerita s'ha presentat a Canadà, Estats Units d'Amèrica, el Japó i també a Europa. Em considero afortunat per haver pogut assistir a la presentació (estrena rigorosa) del nou treball de Cerita. Al temple on es feia la presentació hi havia el poble sencer. Reien i fruïen de valent amb el nou espectacle. La nit va ser superba, gairebé màgica. Tots els actors, ballarins i músics eren del poble. Els constructors de l'utillatge, els tècnics de llum i so també eren de Singapadu. Va ser una festa sensacional. Tant de bo una mica d'aquell aire us entri a casa amb aquest vídeo.
