Fresno Police Officers Violent Arrest of a Homeless Man

Two Fresno police officers are under an internal investigation following the release of a video tape obtained by KSEE 24 News showing the officers beating a homeless man.

Friends of a homeless man shown being beaten by Fresno police say they never knew him to be violent. But Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says judgment cannot be made yet about the incident, and points to the man's record, which includes an arrest for attacking a Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy in 2004. Meanwhile, a local defense attorney says the video could be the basis for a lawsuit against the police department.

It doesn't matter what happened before the tape started. Fact is, he was in no position to harm the officers and they were punching him in the face. They should be charged with assault, and fired.

This is more a case of poor training, these guys should have been able to easily control and handcuff this guy. They had no skill so they revert to primal tactics "punching". I have made hundreds of arrest of suspects offering resistance and I can tell you that it is sad to see two grown men so poorly trained and unable to accomplish the simple task of controling a (likely drunk) homeless guy. Did they have bad intentions I do not think theu did, just not skilled at this part of the job.
