@SamHagagaga I do not thank them. I spit upon their very memory. And everytime I look at a French or American Flag, I see it burst into flames in my mind.
-
@SohnvonChristus You can thank the French and Woodrow Wilson for that.
-
@historatia you are correct,i was a little out.Wishful thinking i reckon,damn you Lithuania.lol
-
@historatia Actually, I seriously doubt if Germany will ever get back its Prussian lands east of the Oder-Neisse. The border between Poland and Germany was set in stone when Germany signed a treaty with Poland guaranteeing Poland's western border. i would love to see Germany regain Pomerania, Silesia, Danzig and East Prussia once again...however, there are no Germans living in those provinces-they either fled or were expelled following the war...(but one can dream)...

@59Skott True. One wing of our family went to ground there in March 1945, with a few stragglers making it out in the 50's. The father was a well known architect who went on to help rebuild historic buildings in Duesseldorf. . The son became and expert at it also and he's been asked to come back and help rebuild some of the buildings.

@bazzatheblue In 1990 the French and Brits had begun to call out their armies to stop German reunification. Margaret Thatcher threatened war to avoid it, and dropped down the list of responsible politicians pretty quickly. The thing to understand is that borders are always "flexible" and spatial economic interest finally prevail. When the prohibition on Germans purchasing land in Poland is lifted (2016?) then Stettin, Danzig, Koeslin, Stolp, Frauenburg Lauenburg, etc. we shall see.

@bazzatheblue Huh?? I thought Lithuania and Poland were next door to East Prussian. Did the Belarussian military do a Blitzrieg and take over Lithuania??????

@59Skott ,i can`t see the German government wanting land back that`s stuck out on a limb ,surrounded by Poland and Belarus,it would just be an oddity ,saying that it is now that to the Russians.The German government in `90 had a chance to address it`s borders with Poland primarily when the 2 countries made that treaty to leave the borders as decided at Yalta.Ican`t see that changing,Germany now is fixed for a very long time at it`s present borders,i think i would have asked for Stettin though.

@59Skott there is not much left of the old city as you say and they have built an enormous Russian Orthodox cathedral in typical Russian design i have seen on tv.Also i think it will be one of the WC venues in 2018.A good time to change the name for that but i can`t see the Russians wanting to lose a port on the Baltic Sea particularly with Putin back in charge,he is very belligerent and an old style Soviet in many ways.He wont want to lose a centimetre of land .
Konigsberg....GERMAN NOT RUSSIAN!!!

I am a Russian, yet I am truly fascinated and awed by the achievements of the Great Prussia as well as the Russian ones. It is sad that Prussia and Russia weren't always allies.
