This is dedicated as a prayer of deep peace, love, sacred reciprocity, joy and liberation for those suffering from the ravages of war, oppression, hatred, intolerance and violence.

  • Awesome! Did you recite mantras before picking up throat singing? If so have you noticed a difference between chanting mantra in normal voice compared to throat singing? I haven't learned thorat singing(though I'm looking on how to start) but I feel it might enhance mantra practice.

  • @WarriorOfTheBlackSun Hi...the vibration is fuller with throat singing, for me. I chanted the mantra many times before throat singing it. I'd rather chant it together with other monks...to be surrounded by that much sound and prayer.

  • hey is this amplified or is it that loud in person? this is amazing i want to learn this ?? wow you are good

  • thank you...I taught myself after watching the film Ghengis Blues. I started with clearing the throat type sounds, then as I relaxed the throat, I was eventually able to sustain. After that I played with refining it to create 3 tones (normal voice, 2 oct below overtone, overtone w/ the mouth). The higher pitched whistling tones I learned by playing w/ creating a second embasure via the tip of the tongue & roof of mouth simultaneously sung w/ the normal singing voice.

  • This is really neat, I have alway wanted to learn to overtone chant. Do you have any pointers or know where I can find information for beginners learning to chant?

  • Thank you for the interaction and positive feedback. I must confess that although the heart of my intention is clear, I really should redo this recording because I botched the traditional lines. I find this odd because I've sang the correct version 100s of times in the past but stopped for a year. Here is the Traditional Tibetan text: Om bhur bhuvah svah

    tat savitur varenyam

    bhargo devasya dhimahi

    dhiyo yonah prachodayat

  • I accually tried it and the result is pretty cool :) Love your overtone skills!

  • thank you...I recorded myself with the microphone on the camera and then added a little reverb. It's easy to teach you if you'd like to learn.

  • For fun...try pulling up several youtube video window of this video and straggle the timing of each one (i.e. hit play here, then play 5 seconds later on the same video in another window, and on and on).
