theres different ways to play songs, there are like 5 different ways to play smoke on the water, i found this way the easiest :)

a basic begginers way is only on the E string, 368-3698-368-63

sorry, and i dont mean to bash your skill, but its played on the "D" and "G" string as bar chords on the FIFTH fret bro. and the only reason i know that is because on the live videos of the song, you notice that the bass line is played on the g note of the e string, therefore it must have to be an octave of that on the guitar to get that fuller fuzzy tone that they have on the machine head album. but great method of playing the song. as long as you can have fun rockin out to sum tunes, its cool.
