I'm 15 and just finished up my ground school. I start training soon (hopefull if everything goes as planned) on a j3! I can't wait for this

Thats really sweet... I soloed in a PA-12 150hp... I want my children to learn in a rail dragger because after you master the cub something like a pitts isnt far off....

Indeed. Sets a good foundation for learning to land.

Nice job, my friend! I too soloed a J3 for my first time. Unfortunately not too many people do anymore. A J3 is the best airplane there is in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

What i ment was, when u land a J3 you got the basic skills to land all taildraggers.

haha sweet

Not true. The J3 is a very easy taildragger to land. A 2 on a 1 to 10 scale on grass, a 3 on asphalt. Fokker Dr.1 being a 10 on GRASS. Stearman on asphalt is a 7 or 8. My 170B is a 4/5.
I agree with sky pilot. I fly j-3's, pa-12's, ans cessna 180's and a 180 is much harder to land than the J-3. My sister (non pilot) can land a J-3. But the 180 and any larger taildragger weighing more than the "paper cup/piper cub" will loop with a landing like that!

Yeah I can imagine it would. The J-3 is my favorite plane to fly. My skills have come a long way since that landing. ;) I'm glad to say I did my solo in a J-3.
