@kitchenaut well thank you for that matey. First of all, you need to understand how uni's are ranked before you can talk. If you did, you would know that research accounts for a lot. Something SU does but not Solent. We focus more on industry ties. Thats why we have a higher employment rate post grad than SU and higher student satisfaction rates. Just because you failed to make the most of your degree doesnt mean we all have. I dont have a single unemployed friend who graduated last year.

That big 'squiggle', presents 'thinking outside the box'. Something clearly not encouraged at Southampton University. Alongside thinking in general and even a bit of respect. We are all students at the end of the day. Not everyone wants to be a doctor or to study history. You all read magazines, watch television, listen to music, wear clothes, read newspapers, play video games etc. Who do you think trains the people that produce these things?! Stop being so arrogant about your ignorance please.

Unfortunately Willspock, the last laugh is on Solent. As a graduate of Solent myself, I can say it can't compete with the university in anyway. Where you shop or drink isn't really going to matter to someone who will graduate with a much needed degree in medicine, while Solent's academic standards have been criticised in two documentaries on the BBC and C4, both while I was studying there. Also, I used to drink in the Hobbit because many of the bars in town were full of loutish fuckwits.

lol, put us down because you couldnt get into oxford or cambridge, also your not socially in southampton, get taxis everywhere because portswood is shit, you go and shop in aldi and drink in the hobit. ill shop in asda, or sainsburys, or co-op, or john lewis etc, and hit all the house partys in the uks densely populated student area. the polygon. unlucky you wastemen, a degrees a degree. lol
