  • Wow this is sooooooooooooooooo.. cool

I'm a big Quentin admirer. You have to tell me where I can see or how to get a dvd of your Meeting Mr Crisp movie...

    Thanks for the answer

  • Thanks for your message. MEETING MR CRISP isn't distributed - I could burn you off a DVD if you ask nively and chuck me a few quid to cover expenses - there's not much more of the Quentin interview in the film though - as the rest of it concerns Bette Bourne's performance as him and the circumstances around his death - another film I made for Channel 4 THE SIGNIFICANT DEATH OF QUENTIN CRISP should be in their archive (if you can get at it). xN

  • I lived around the corner from Quentin for a number of years. By the way, most of us live in apartments as small as his. And though he didn't find cleaning the apartment important, he was always dressed and groomed impeccably on the street. He was a fascinating person and he is missed in the neighborhood.

  • He chose to live like this and had over a million dollars in his savings account when he died.

  • Seeing actual footage of Crisp really makes you appreciate John Hurt's portrayal of him.

  • I would love to get a copy of The Significent Death of Quentin Crisp :) Sounds very interesting...much like his final comment concerning his own death...

  • fabulous, i visited that homely squalid room back in the mid 90's and politely refused a cup of tea, i should not have been able to drink it, primarily out of sheer excitement to be a guest of mr crisp, secondly because i'm anally retentive and could not face supping from his cup. however that afternoon on the lower. east side was one of the happiest of my life. thank you for the memories.

  • @michaelmouse1 thought so. i pity you.

  • @Shanniquitie two words. fuck off. well three really. fuck off moron.

  • @michaelmouse1 you've obviously never read the man's books. the only thing i'm bored of is your illiterate sort. don't question the wisdom of those who understand more than you can, and feel more deeply than you ever shall.

  • @Shanniquitie

You have clearly missed his point entirely. It was not homosexuality that he saw as "profoundly destructive" (your rather loaded phrase) but rather the mindless status quo that forces any minority into 'non-acceptance'. As he stated time and time again tolerance will only ever be the result of boredom. And though you are indeed a bore, you yourself are not yet bored enough to keep your mouth shut. but time will out.........

  • yes, he was very perceptive. he understood that homosexuality is, profoundly, destructive. such is the price of insight.
