The devious curatorial staff of Toronto's Royal Ontario Museum attempt to outwit participants at Fact? or Fiction?, an annual guessing game and fundraising event in support of the ROM research endowment fund. For tickets visit www.rom.on.ca/factorfiction.

Going into its 12th year, Fact? or Fiction? is renowned for fantastic food and tantalizing tales of mysterious objects from the collections. The ROM is Canada's largest research museum, and this event helps make possible ROM curatorial research here and around the world.

  • The ROM is only partially funded by the government of Ontario and has to pay for the majority of its costs through income it generates from admissions, shops, etc. The Smithsonian is fully funded by the US Government and can afford to be free.

  • Could someone tell me why the ROM doesn't have free admission like the SMITHSONIAN?

  • When does this event take place and how much does it cost?

  • You can't just donate a lot of money and make those problems go away. It takes some government action, social programs and a lot of time to address homelessness. Must a person give all his money to a specific cause?

This wasn't just a condo project or investment, because it's a public museum. The man supported Toronto's culture by improving a museum, and in the end we can all admire the architecture and artifacts.

  • I live a 5 minute walk from the ROM. Does the Yorkville area need another overpriced piece of real-estate? There are many homeless people laying on grates in front on front of my condo, even in the dead of winter :( If I were Mr Chin, I would have donated to a building whos patrons drink Listerine, not champagne :S But hey, he's the multi-millionaire.

  • It's a wonderful work of architecture though. I'm sure he can help both a museum of fine arts and artifacts build an iconic addition, and the people of Jamaica.

  • i love the dinosaur exibit!
