I promised, i deliver.

Technical description of DPCs: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963898.aspx

Simple description of DPCs: Think of them as a bunch of workers building a car. If one of them is late with their part, the other ones have to wait and the release date of the car is delayed. In a multitasking computer system that means ANY process requiring a DPC is delayed until the previous one completes. If one is taking up too much time all others have to wait. Thus long DPC calls translate to audio and video stutters, and that's why they must be avoided.

  • Hypercam

  • didn't work properly either.

  • I wanted to use CamStudio but it records extremely jerky audio. I'm fine with simply dragging the recording area (or the windows) around, without it following my mouse.

  • with that background, any pc will run the way it's supposed to run.

  • Might be because of win 7...

Btw thanks for your video. I have an Alienware m17x and Im having some problems with latency and the idea of identifying the cause is great.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the file names to show up properly =/ I have installed the symbols package and created the environment var but If I run the command you said I get no symbols at all.

I've tried a different command with kernal flags and it shows the filenames on the drivers part but not on the DPC CPU usage =(

  • u really need to use something like camstudio or camtasia and use panning to folo around ur cursor but overall nice! DZ FOREVER!
