they have chips the size of a grain of salt now. probably smaller.. like powder. You would be better off to get jpm out of your life all together. go to a credit union. don't feed the beast.

@bigginmon Exactly... couldn't have said it better!

Indeed! And Google, Safeway Cards, etc that are used to track our buying habits use the date mined info on each one of us to SELL for pennies at a time to advertising agents.
But those pennies per person turn into MILLIONS for them.
Not too mention the privacy problems!

@keepinitGcode I can't buy anything with my student ID card (I bring lunch every day and don't have a meal plan) so I'm not too concerned about it, but It is probably very easy to make a higher range RFID scanner if it doesn't exist already. Imagine standing in a big crowd knowing the guy next to you could easily get your credit card info without even stealing your wallet. They just have to hold a handheld device a few inches fro your leg. That's scary and I want no part in it.

@keepinitGcode Besides, you must be pretty lazy to consider swiping a card a chore. I'm an engineering student and I work in a professor's lab on campus. He gave me key access to the lab. The key isn't really a key though, it's an RFID chip in my student ID card (unfortunately I cannot swipe the card anywhere to unlock the lab, otherwise I would take that one out too). I basically hold my wallet up to the sensor (without even taking it out).

@keepinitGcode They need it for the same reason Google does, advertizing and money. There was an article on Yahoo a few weeks ago about a pregnant teen who shopped in Target. Target was able to predict her pregnancy before her own father solely based on her buying habits (most of which were not directly related to babies) alone. They then sent her a customized coupon book full of baby supplies. That's scary in my opinion.

@TheTotenhawk So I guess you're all for the naked body scanners at the airports too, huh? As Ben Franklin once said, those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither. You're a fool to be in favor of Big Brother monitoring your every move. I'll keep my liberty and you can keep the change.
I despise Walmart, why would you shop there then complain about it? all this seems ridiculous. I think people think they are more important than they really are. i don't have enough money to worry about someone trying to get into my account when in my entire life it's never happened. Plus you say work with you hands but how much does soap and water cost when you're doing a video showcasing your hands?

@ursee1
What is with you TROLLS???
1) I mention Wal-Mart for a scenario because EVERYONE knows what it is and uses them.
2) I don't remember what it was, but I was probably working on something else that was dirty. This was made in my garage where I work on autos for people, or other projects.
I'm not a troll. I actually get off my ass and do things. Making videos is just one of them.
Move along.

There will be a day when some little girl is taken by some pedifile freak and a chip like these will get the cops to her before she is raped and murdered.
If this tech can save a kids life , Then i am all for it.

They ALWAYS use the idea of security to take away Liberty.
i.e. the naked body scanners and sexual groping at the airports and coming soon to other events.
An embedded chip like this would be useless in your kid unless the person took your kid within close proximity to a transceiver to read it.
But again, BIG BROTHER will be used more for tyrannical control than to help the people. It always is.
