@MeanTerminator i totally disagree with you. Brahms was never a fast playing pianist. Speed is NEVER essential on Brahms music but rather the orchestral sound. This tempo could be good if the pianist would have time to breath and to phrase properly which he obvisouly doesn't...

The best Brahms/Paganini variation I have heard so far, next only to the one by Sergio Fiorentino, and I have heard quite a few.
Speed is of the essence to bring out the essence of this piece. Anything slower than this would be a slow motion sloppy disaster.

Musically very ugly! No idea what makes true impact, whether in brilliance or poetry. Just fast confused notes, all compacted, no breathing, no light, no shade, no interest.
