@SeanElGatoTelevision read wikipedia about the cartoon for further information.

@SeanElGatoTelevision when were the negatives lost? I guess the prints that were in 'syndication' in the late 70's early 80's cant be...well other cartoon comp dvd's have been done this way. Plus if SONY owns the rights, then the lisencing fees they cant afford. How many LP's were released in conjunction to this cartoon? I found both of them on a blogspot...good stuff. is this on wikipedia?

These ABC Saturday Morning Sweet Memories from 1969 to 1971 will LIVE 'N ROCK ON 4 LIFE!!!!
It might take some real doing to get this released on official DVDs...
This show is considered "lost" (the negatives went missing decades before Hallmark got its mitts on Filmation's library) and a search for prints of the episodes must be made. And to add to this problem, the two LPs spun off fom this show are now owned by Sony Music Entertainment (which today owns RCA Records, which released them) and the masters must be licensed from them.

@SeanElGatoTelevision I have a friend that worked for Warner Brothers (I don't think that there is any connection between them, Hallmark or Filmation). Supposedly there is a nice set of "second or third generation" copies of the entire series out there. Something tells me if anything was done towards issuing a "legitimate" DVD collection it would have to come from something like those. It is nice, however, to have the first album available on iTunes now...

@SkeebWilcox Are they videotapes or films? If my experience with VHS/Betamax is anything relevant, it's that the video/audio quality often deteriorates a bit with each generation of copying, due to some of the signal being lost in the cables (hence why professional equipment usually doesn't have RCA or 75/300 ohm jacks). I'd assume the same happens with film, albeit chemically. Of course, I could be wrong :P

The DVD I have is home made and has five episodes. I purchased it a toy show in Pittsburgh about 3-4 years ago. The website of the company that "manufactured" it is not up any longer. There is one other DVD I have seen advertised with 10 episodes, but five of them were the same five I already had, so I passed on it.
