Whichever country does this first will rule the world economy. We should do it while we still can. It would create thousands of jobs, tons of new technology and show the world that the U.S. can lead by positive example. We would be the new OPEC, but we would be called EPEC! Selling satellites and energy to emerging nations and other countries. But , no. We'll let China and India do it first, so we can buy our energy from them! Why is the U.S. so fucking stupid???

Thanks for posting this. There is an excellent book on this topic, that should be in every tech and engineering college in the U.S. "Sun Power - The Global Solution for the Coming Energy Crisis" was written in 1994 by Ralph Nansen, one of the head engineers at Boeing during their development of the SPS concept in the 70's. The book is available as a kindle download now through Amazon. This system should have been in place by the mid 80's. The U.S. economy would be insanely strong right now.
