"Zombies invade Capital District for film shoot"
TROY — Some passersby may have been a little bemused to see a group of 50 or so zombies chasing a golf cart down a small hill near the Knickerbacker Recreation Facility in Lansingburgh. Just as today, a few customers of the Ale House might wonder why the walking dead are frequenting their favorite bar.
It's all part of local movie director Jack Abele's filming of "Dating a Zombie."
Just in time for the Halloween season, this zombie movie will be filmed in various locations of the Capital District, including a few spots in the Collar City.
According to a filming schedule for the movie, production started on Saturday at 20 Railroad Ave. in Albany where a crew shot a scene entitled "Zombie Recycling Center."
The next day, a large cast of scary looking extras were near the Knickerbacker Ice Rink chasing a golf cart in another scene called "Zombie Roaming Area."
Zombies, complete with creepy moans and cravings for brains, will also be filmed at the Quayside apartments on River Street, and Cemetery Avenue in Menands.
"We're thrilled to host this filming in the city," said city official Vito Ciccarelli.
