Claas dealer Manns held a field demonstration of Claas tractors at Barnham, Suffolk, on March 10th, 2009. The tractors at work - in order of appearance - were: a Claas Arion 630 pulling a five-furrow Gregoire Besson reversible plough; a Claas Axion 820 with a six-furrow Overum reversible plough; a Claas Axion 850 with a five-leg He-Va Subsoiler; and a Xerion 3800 pulling a Lemken Karat 9 cultivator.

  • why are demos of tractors and ploughs always on the bloody beach, put them on some mans ground and see what happens to them then.

  • The Barnham site was certainly sandy, but the event did move onto an Essex venue where the ground was much heavier. I did discuss the easy-worked soil with Manns, and from its point of view the fact that it could show off the tractors working no matter the weather was very important.
