"A genre-defying, emotional tour de force, THE LIVING AND THE DEAD is the critically acclaimed psychodrama about an English family dynasty gasping its last cursed breath.

Close to bankruptcy Ex-Lord Donald Brocklebank (Roger Lloyd Pack, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) is forced to sell the sprawling mansion he lives in with his wife and son.

Lady Nancy Brocklebank (Kate Fahy) has taken seriously ill and Donald must now arrange for a family nurse to come and care for her—much to the disappointment of his schizophrenic shut-in son James (Leo Bill, 28 Days Later).

James would like nothing more than to prove to his father that he is a responsible adult. In a misguided attempt to do so, James tragically locks Nurse Mary out of the house.

As the stress of looking after an ailing patient increases, James' own mental condition worsens and his ability to care for his mother diminishes along with his ability to tell fantasy from reality."

  • Not at all. It is a movie about a very sick person who thinks he's helping but is really doing the opposite.

  • Just finished watching this movie on netflix. I thought it was gonna give me a heart attack. Needless to say I really enjoyed it, even with the bad taste it left in my mouth.

Thanks for the music link btw.

  • Hey that is great! Thank you so much for letting us know what you thought!

  • It is a tough, emotional film. And I'm not surprised you felt sick the rest of the day. But I would argue that it only proves the movie was effective.

  • @familyguyfangirl You watch Family Guy, which is a pretty crass show, then say this movie's weird? It's a movie about what happens in a sick person's mind. People are really like this.
