Reed Timmer, a star of the top rated Storm Chasers Television series on the Discovery Channel, is one of the most successful and most extreme storm chasers in the world. His is a job that requires science and bravado, knowledge and instinct just to survive, never mind excel. It's a job some people would kill for. But most prefer to let Timmer take the risks while they watch from the safety of their own homes. Now, in Into the Storm, he takes readers inside the terrifying and awe-inspiring world of big weather.

Published to coincide with the fourth season's premiere, Into the Storm is Timmer's dramatic account of his extraordinary profession. Featuring stories of the three-hundred-plus extreme tornadoes, hurricanes, or blizzards that Timmer has watched ring-side over the last decade—storms that include the killer F5 tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, in May 1999; the unprecedented, devastating storm surge of Hurricane Katrina; and the little-studied but enormously powerful storm systems in places like Canada and Argentina. As a Ph.D. candidate in meteorology, Timmer is after more than just an adrenaline rush—his stories feature fascinating insights into the science of storms, and how the data he is collecting could possibly save lives. With a firsthand perspective on the storm-chasing community, Timmer also takes readers inside this world, examining his controversial obsession and the ethical debates it sparks.

Into the Storm is one wild—and informative—ride.

  • This appears to be an edited, albeit higher quality, of another video here on YouTube. When the guy screams " I hope they're okay!", he is referring to a red vehicle near the structure that was encompassed by the storm. The title of the video did not speak kindly of those involved if I recall, so it stands out.

  • @Starry2000 Here's the original clip we uploade (enter it after the v= on the address line) : x4MCu8Cv7WI - we have another shorter version on our channel as well, plus the DVD trailer. And "please be okay" was about the occupants of the house, not the vehicle. There were people inside who made it to safety but one man refused to leave and unfortunately was injured as a result.

  • to be honest i would freak the hell out as well being 16 i watch the weather channel from march to mid october and storm chasing has become a big interest since i saw twister over one hundred but when a monster ef5 or even f3 tornado is chasing me like dog with rabies i probably will freak out i hope when graduate from collage will face my first twister in person.

  • @TornadoGirl1125 In the politest way possible, I know it isn't Joel. You don't need to use that tone of voice, honey. But, to me and many others, The TVN team just isn't the same Without all three Joel, Reed and Chris.

  • @dominodot321 THAT ISN'T JOEL

  • @TheAbsentMind1 Understanded. I wouldn't know, personally. Haha. All I can do, being 14, is dream. And boy, do I!

  • @dominodot321 You sure do act differently when you're flowing with adrenalin. In a way that you never that you would act. Trust me, I know from experience. And specifically a Tornado experience, its scary and surreal.

  • love the original of reed yelling BACK THE F*** UP

  • Dear Reed:

I know you're panicing a little Because a massive EF4 Tornado is coming at you quickly, But If you could control your fear a little, You would notice That Joel Taylor, Is indeed, Backing up. You don't have to scream at him. :)

Sincerely, A big Fan, but not of the screaming.

Even though you're hilarious when you're freaking out.

  • I love Reed he's the best storm chaser ever!!!

  • @KFoxBuddy a tornadoes size doesnt always tell its strength or vice versa
