Limited but fast field in the open sports prototypes with 2.1 turbo or 3 litres Cosworths. Only the two Porche 935 protoypes, 3 Alpine Renault V6 2.1 turbos the basis of 77-85 Renault grand prix cars and a de Cardnet and a 3 litre Mirage.
The 76world sports car championship was the last real open sports car competion until the 21c US Le Mans.Ickx in that 935 Porsche and the Renaults were quick , 400 km hr on Mulsanne and more dangerous than f1. Better if the Alfa Tipo's had raced with Merzario.
