MCN's test of the new Triumph Tiger 800XC against BMW's established performer F800GS has shown the Hinckley factory has yet another hit motorcycle in its expanding range. Our road trip to South West Wales involved 450 road miles and a day off-road on the same terrain used by the World rally Championships -- an arduous test for any factory-sponsored rally car let alone mass-produced, road-biased motorcycles you or us can walk into a shop and buy.

  • nevermind about the bikes, the image quality is absolutely great :)

    I bet it's a DSLR camera

  • You are correct, its a Canon EOS 5D with various L series lenses

  • Why is the GS's brake light flickering like that?

  • Its the frame rate of the camera, it makes LED brake lights look like that

  • CAN YOU STOP PUTTING THIS IMAGES IN ONE FRAME FROM TIME TO TIME?!

  • I want your job, matey!!

  • Wtf is wrong with you people, I can go from 0-potato therefore I'm the obvious fridge

  • Reference was made in the video to the F800GS's excellent fuel economy. I test rode one today and I zero'd the computer and on motorway riding I was getting - 90mph 6th gear 43mpg, 80mph 6th gear 46mpg. Not that special. This is a shame because if I could get 55mpg+ on the motorway I'd buy one over the Tiger800 although after also testing the Tiger I prefer it's engine.

  • You drove all the way to Wales to say "Yeah, it's alright". Was it worth it?

  • Why the subliminal flashes of the triumph tiger? Thought I was getting a migrane. lol

  • Come on, no contest. It's BMW. Some people find it hard to lump and hope the next bike along is better, but sorry to say but BMW do damm good job..

  • Well if that is what a accomplished champion can do with a 800 so called dual purpose motorcycle( 2:26). The term" Lead Balloon" comes to mind.

  • At first I thought there were two Beemers sitting next to each other, then I realised the red one was the Triumph. Maybe the designers meet up for drinks every so often.

  • @cemailumeu You consider that recording as "great image quality"? It's nothing special actually.
