Of all the foods on earth, I can think of none that Americans have bastardized more than Italian food. Here in America, the pasta is over cooked, and the sauce is too thick (I don't think they even know what a San Marzano tomato is in America). Ask the average American what he thinks of when you say "italian food" and more than likely he'll replay with either "pizza" or "Chef Boyardee"
