I have a question regarding these cats and toys, wouldnt letting big cats play with toys instead of each other domesticate them too much? theres nothing wrong with having a tiger for a house cat but I would much rather have them be raised in the way nature has let them for Melanie's, ei, let them catch there food, let them play with each other and from time to time, let them loose in a huge piece of fenced land for a while. I love big cats btw!!!!! huge fan

Thank you for your comment. No matter what toys they are given they will never be domesticated. Some of the cats prefer not to share their enclosures. The ones who do want playmates we keep them together. Our enclosures are quite large. We are working on an extra large enclosure that the cats will all take turns in. However, more funds are needed to finish that.

Remember: These are NOT big versions of cute little Fluffy. Fluffy is a very small version of these animals---which is why BIg Cats are not PETS. (And if you ask any veterinarian, small housecats are pretty darn dangerous if they wanna be.) These are wild animals who should be protected so they can live and breed in the wild as well as captivity, instead of being victims of human stupidity. Big Cat Love to all.

I'd say you're right. Heck, I've seen domestics attack people at the size they are now.

My god how eerily similar big cats and domestic cats are. If domestic cats were big enough, there's no doubt that they would attack us just as a big cat would.

It strikes me that these cats all look very happy and well fed, sometimes even a bit too well ;)
Good job and if it wasn't because of the big watery thing between your continent and mine, I would have visited you right away!

I think you are a little confused about the difference between tame and domesticated. The cats playing with these toys will never be domesticated- exactly why its not a good idea to have a tiger as a house pet. They may get more tame due to their exposure to humans but BCR is doing a really good job at trying to simulate a natural environment, even though they throw toys in there every once in a while to stimulate the cat's natural instincts, it will never make them domesticated.

I have to correct you, there are many things wrong with having a tiger for a house cat. Big Cat Rescue houses quite a few former 'pets' and performing animals, they aquired these animals in order to remove them from the poor situation they were in, and are now letting them live out their lives in the best habitat it's possible to provide to an animal in captivity. This includes enrichment, such as toys.
