I don't think this line-up beats the previous quintet

Excellent! This is from Steve Allen's Westinghouse syndicated show from Los Angeles (it ran from 1962 through September 1964), not the Tonight show. You can almost see Frank Rosolino (trombone) and Conte Candoli (trumpet) sitting in Steve's house band in the background. Do you have any more videos from this series?

I know its lighting but the drummer looks like a ghost.

The blues has never left since 1964, nor will it ever leave. -- Pure swing, with a modern feel of course; kinda sophisticated being-in-the-groove for the enlightened. The saxophonist? He is taller than Miles, it's the one and only Mr. Wayne Shorter.

what studio album was this song from (if any)? The only song that is close on any album is blues no. 2 from someday my prince will come. Is that the same song?
