did it for 1st time today. firstly this vid does not show just how dark this place is, i couldnt see my arm or the walls!!! secondly please council could you lock the gates open as any psycho can lock the gates shut when you are in there!!! thanks for this vid, i viewed it yesterday so i was prepared for today, quite an experience with no lights and at least an inch of mud.

Thanks for the nice ride. I would not like being in the tunnel if someone decided to close those gates with me inside.

We biked an old line near me. There is a 1700ft tunnel that curves under a hill. Except for 2 vent shafts, its jet black inside. A hot day 36C. We get to the tunnel and decide to walk the bikes thru. A good heat respite. Imagine our reaction halfway through, in total blackness, to bump into 2 cows escaping the heat! The shock was terrifying!! The dark was spooky enough, but to bump into something unexpected (and moving)...well, its something I'll never forget!

Yes, I did the whole trip once (from my home to Northampton and back was 37 miles) but I hadn't done a long trip on my bike for so many years, that my legs were like jelly and I had to go and have a lie down afterwards!
