original cartoons are the best shows period. Yosemite Sam was is and forever will be the original cartoon badass.

@ChrisC1 .......but they are also MUCH worse than CN when determining how to make their shorts look PC. Disney Channel recently aired a Mickey Mouse Cartoon (Mickey's Parrot) digitally replacing a gun with a broom! Unbelievable ain't it? It's proof that despite the bad treatment the Looney Tunes get on CN, it could be much, much worse.
-
@ChrisC1 Fair enough, it's true though, I'd rather these shorts be left alone too. But the editing on CN is still nothing compared to when these shorts aired on ABC (most particularly in the 90s), title cards cut, several scenes cut out for PC reasons (some of which have been restored on later CN airings). Well at least the LT get better treatment than the classic disney shorts, not only do they redub and shorten the toons...........

"Be ya?!" "I be." Gangster/

@classicsguy626 In my opinion, any editing is unacceptable, the difference is today the cartoons are aimed towards children instead of the primarily adult audiences they were intended for, hence the editing. The editing isnt as minor as you suggest, compare to a genuine original and you'll see. They also edit and cut so they can jam in more commercials. (CN isnt alone, TVLand is a major offender of this practice)

@ChrisC1 I somewhat agree with you, five minute commercial breaks between each short does get annoying (that's when DVRs become handy). But what do you mean by heavily edited? True that for a long time now, bits and parts have been edited out (like suicide, noose, pills or racial gags), but at least not edited in the way the disney shorts are (heard of Have a Laugh?). In fact, I've actually seen/heard some shorts aired unedited on CN airings recently, like Good Noose and Show Biz Bugs.
-
@classicsguy626 Except the originals are heavily edited and all the on screen clutter, crap and advertising makes them unwatchable.

where have cartoons gone?

@crayzzriggs Thumbs way my friend! I wholeheartedly agree with you 100%. Today's cartoons suck bigtime and have done so for about the past 30 or so years now!!
My kids watch the crap they show on TV nowadays and they just stare at the screen like they've been lobotomized yet when they see classic cartoons such as this one here they laugh so hard they nearly fall out of their seats! I also get the same effect when they watch the original Little Rascals from the 1930's.
