A recent study says there are no negative effects from adopted children seeking out their birth parents, but only 8 states allow it. Katie Couric says it might be time for all states to open records.

  • I have two adopted siblings and one sought out his birthparents in high school. While there were mixed feelings involved and the birthfather became overlly emotional, overall it went well and the two still speak now 8 years later as do the sibling and his birthmother who our parents found. That said, I can see how there are privacy needs to and some people such as my sister have no interest in their birthparents.
