This track is taken from Earwig's 1992 album - Under My Skin I am Laughing - (La-Di-Da 022). This album is rare but still possible to obtain seconhand, I guess...
An air of mystery surrounds the indie trio Earwig and the few records they released from 1991 to 1992 on the small indie label La Di Da, based in their hometown of Hove, near Brighton, England.
Earwig were Kirsty Yates,
Julian Tardo and Dimitri Voulis.
The band released three 12" EPs and an album titled "Under My Skin I am Laughing". The album - as well as the only single taken from it, "Everyday Shines" - recieved reasonably good reviews in both NME and Melodymaker. The band developed and refined a quite distinctive sound during it's existence by using both sequensers and electronics with more conventional instruments, to build introvert and claustrophobic pop songs about obsessive relationships and conflicting images of the self in an intimate personal drama.
After releasing "Under My Skin...", Voulis split and Yates and Tardo formed Insides, signed with 4AD sister label Guernica and released one of the most beautiful and critically acclaimed dreampop albums ever: "Euphoria" from 1993. Euphoria gained Insides a considerable underground and cult following that is still noticeable today. Following the labels release of a 43 minute, single track, repetetive instrumental album named "Clear Skin", only intended to be used by the band to support their own live shows and certainly not approved for release by the band itself, they split with 4AD and Guernica and vanished from the scene for many years. In the year 2000 they reamerged with a completely different sound - a kind of accoustic and upbeat trip-hop - a new album - "Sweet Tip" - and a new label - Third Stone. On their myspace site they claim to have new recorded material that might see the light of day in the future.
@donny5168 Earwig is the name of the band, you moron.
