I dont think mr. zaland gets the respect he deserves for tutoring the greats like a. wali, zahir howida, nashenas, a. zahir and so on. Every musician that has seen success has emulated Zaland through his career. Today, he is resting ill in his bed yet there is no one that can at least talk about his legacy and his profound impact in music. Taranasaaz passed away without any recognition and now zaland will be forgotten. You will never hear this type of voice and songs ever in afg ever.

You are absolutely right. Zaland deserves much more respect. I am not sure about tutoring the great singers you named, however, as a mentor he played a major role. Any way he has a gifted voice and is singing very well with unforgettable compositions to his credit.

Assady Jaan, give some credit to Mohammad Zahir Shah for his taste foe quality music. He used to invite Ustad Sarahang, Mehdi Hassan, Ahmad Wali and Zaland. It was after one of such private performance that he presented Ahmad Wali with a very quality sony HiFi System enabling him to record his songs.

Maiforosh jan, I completely agree with you. U. Zaland deserves our outmost respect. Unfortunately we are very ignorant. The singers/ compositors are not acknowledged when they are alive. Even among the ones who are not with us just U. Sarahang and A. Z. are repeatedly mentioned. I know they were great, but we also had U. Rahim Bakhsh, U. Saraban, U. Breshna & great comp.(U. Nainawaz & U. Taranasaz). In my opinion,each one of these artists deserves same amt of recognition as the other 2 have.

i am friends with shahla zaland the great ustad's daughter on her facebook and she told me that at 5:20 am april 2009 that jenab ustad zaland passed away. She also told me that he wuz sick 4 the past 3 years and he also had kidney failure and alzheimers at the end of his life. Jannat e firdaus naseebe ustad zaland basha
