Here is Episode Three, in case you're counting. This time I'll be using Layers and Shape tools to create a caricature of a popular LiveVideo vlogger whom I enjoy. You'll probably figure out who it is when I paint in their background. It's a little more complex than the sketches I've done in the previous sessions, because layers are involved, BUT SEE THAT YOU ARE NOT AFRAID. Layers are your bestest friends! Reather than "Draw" the picture this time, I mostly use the shape tools to create geometric masses of color, whic I then modify with the Smudge tool, and model with the Burn tool. So while this is going to be a whirlwind of activity, I'm still doing very simple stuff using a minimum of features. Even I have a little trouble following along with the sped-up action, so just sit back and enjoythe process of creeation. Repeated viewings will give you the chances to pick up more procedural details if you're interested in persuing this yourself.

Happy Photoshopping!

PS--Hey, wanna play a good drinking game? Yo uhafta take a shot of whiskey for every time I say "Basically".

  • what settings do you set your smudge tool to? because to get the effect that you are doing i have to go to the liquify effects because the smudge tool im using doesnt give the same effect

  • I say use the Liquify tool whenever you can. the only advantage that the Smudge has over the Liquify is that you can see EVERYTHING in relation to what you're modifying. WHAT you're doing will also determine the pressure you want to use on your Smudges. For shaping, try somewhere in the 80% to 90%, but never all the way to 100%.

  • duz your photoshop have all the same tools as photoshop elements 6

  • probably at least that and then some! Elements is laid out a little differently than regular Photoshop. But these are very basic techniques that can be done in Regular Photoshop OR Elements.

  • I have all the faith in the world that you shall indeed master Photoshop enough to do some awesome things. It's just a matter of spending time getting to know where all your favorite toys are and what they do.

  • what program did you use?

  • Photoshop 7.0
